5 July 2023 – Professor Ellen Boeren presented an overview on the importance of ongoing adult education research at the Social Policy Conference, held at the University Park Campus, Nottingham. As part of her presentation, she highlighted the upcoming work on investigating social, economic and political conjunctures and its relation to participation in adult education and training. She also discussed the project’s role in further unpacking ALE policies in the devolved countries of the United Kingdom and Ireland.
4 July 2023 – The project team held its first team meeting on the premises of the School of Education at the University of Nottingham. The meeting was attended by Professor Ellen Boeren, Project Lead, Nottingham colleagues Dr Sharon Clancy, Dr Betul Babayigit and Professor John Holford, and by Dr Corin Egglestone, project manager at the Learning & Work Institute. The meeting was used to scrutinize the APiL questionnaires and to delve deeper into the survey technicalities. Forward planning was undertaken for future impact and dissemination events.
21 June 2023 – Professor Ellen Boeren delivered a seminar about the project at the University of Durham. She introduced colleagues in the School of Education to the aims and ambitions of the project and discussed the role of the annual Adult Participation in Learning (APiL) Survey conducted by the Learning & Work Institute.
