
John Holford is Robert Peers Professor of Adult Education Emeritus at the University of Nottingham. He is a sociologist and adult educator, who has worked for the Workers’ Educational Association, the universities of Hong Kong, Surrey and Nottingham. Over the last 25 years he has published extensively on aspects of lifelong learning policy and its significance, particularly in the Europe Union, including most recently the open access book: Lifelong Learning, Young Adults and the Challenges of Disadvantage in Europe (Palgrave Macmillan). He also studies British adult education, and was joint secretary to the Centenary Commission on Adult Education.
